The PGA Tour has a youth movement on its hands, and has for the last few years. There are several up-and-coming players who look to be the future of the tour, and Jackson Koivun would absolutely be one of those players.

The 21-year-old Koivun earned his PGA Tour card as a part of the PGA Tour University accelerated program. Koivun chose to forego his senior season at Clemson to start playing professional events after the 2026 U.S. Open.

In his third professional event, the 3M Open, Koivun held off the likes of Hideki Matsuyama, Brian Harmon, and even the top golfer in the world, Scottie Scheffler.

Koivun shot a -25 under par for a three stroke victory, and fired a 66 Sunday, this after Scheffler shot a 63 to put pressure on the young golfer. It wasn’t a wire-to-wire victory for Koivun, but that was essentially the only thing Koivun didn’t do during the 3M Open in Minnesota.

It was a tremendous tournament, one which many thought was considered a lesser than tournament on the schedule, and a great way to highlight some of the young talent on the PGA Tour.

Let’s take a look at who was projected to be contending, based on pre-tournament odds.

2026 3M Open Odds

  • Scottie Scheffler (+265)
  • Kurt Kitayama (+2250)
  • Maverick McNealy (+2350)
  • Hideki Matsuyama (+2800)
  • Tom Kim (+2900)

When it came to picks for this event, I like to start with my favorite and long shot picks for the tournament. The favorite pick is the winner pick I like the most. For the long shot winner, that is a golfer who has over +2000 odds to win. It is a long shot pick for a reason, and finding those can be like finding a needle in a haystack.

Here were my favorite and long shot picks for the 2026 3M Open:

Favorite: Scottie Scheffler (+265) – MISS

Scheffler has had a tremendous season, yet has only one win on his record. Even as the clear favorite to win, Scheffler found himself in a familiar position when the tournament finished. Runner-up. Scheffler has been close on so many occasions this season, but just hasn’t been able to get the job done.

Long Shot: Hideki Matsuyama (+2800) – MISS

Matsuyama was close to being my first long shot pick to win, but his T3 finish was just not enough to get the job done. These two players did us some favors in other categories though.

Top 5 Bets For The 3M Open 2026

  • Scottie Scheffler (-154) – HIT

While Scheffler wasn’t able to help us cash the outright winner play, his solo 2nd place finish helps us cash the Top 5 play. Scheffler had minus-odds, but still made us some money with the finish.

Kim had a T20 finish at the 3M, and has proven he is on the right track after his win at the Scottish Open, but unfortunately he doesn’t help us with the Top 5 play and helping us have a clean sweep with Top 5 plays.

Top 10 Picks For The 3M Open 2026

  • Hideki Matsuyama (+245) – HIT

While Hideki was close to helping us cash a long shot play, he did help us hit the Top 10 pick for the tournament. His T3 finish helps us cash the +245 bet for a Top 10 play.

  • Keith Mitchell (+265) – MISS

Mitchell has been up-and-down all season, and Mitchell’s T44 finish at the 3M was certainly more of the down than the up. Mitchell doesn’t help us sweep the Top 10 picks for the week.

Top 20 Value Picks For The 3M Open 2026

Jake Knapp has been battling injury this season, and he started to look like his early season form at the 3M with a T13 finish. Knapp didn’t just turn around his season, but he helped us cash the +148 odds for the Top 20 play.

Finau was my “gut pick” of the week, and my gut was off this week in a big way. Finau missed the cut and didn’t make the weekend. Just like the Top 5 and Top 10 plays, we were able to get one of two.

Best Prop Bets, Parlays And Bonus Plays For The 2026 3M Open

For bonus plays, these are picks which I don’t necessarily hang my hat on, but still provide value for some who want more exotic plays outside of the aforementioned picks. Sometimes bonus plays are parlays, double chances, triple chances, and even some fun plays for that particular event.

Here are the bonus plays for the 2026 3M Open:

Winner with0ut Scottie Scheffler: Gary Woodland (+4900) – MISS

Margin of Victory: 3 Shots (+590) – HIT

Tournament Review:

Outright Plays: 3/8

Bonus Plays: 1/2
