OG Anunoby participated in parts of practice for the Knicks on Wednesday, and the team is optimistic he will play in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals barring any setbacks, per ESPN’s Shams Charania.
“There is an expectation that he will be able to play in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals,” Charania said on air, per sources.
“The expectation and hope is that he will be a go for Game 1.”
Anunoby has been out a week with a tweaked right hamstring suffered in Game 2 against the Philadelphia 76ers on May 6.
The Knicks are awaiting the winner of the series between the Detroit Pistons and Cleveland Cavaliers. Game 5 is set for Wednesday night with the series tied at 2-2.
Knicks coach Mike Brown told reporters Anunoby participated in “some parts” of practice on Wednesday.
“When we went live, he didn’t go live,” he said.
Anunoby has averaged 21.4 points and 7.5 rebounds in these playoffs.
