Luke Combs is one of country music’s most prolific hitmakers and biggest stars at the moment, and he’s looking to continue his winning streak as his latest era begins. Just over a year after releasing his most recent album Fathers & Sons, he has kept the momentum going with several new singles, including “Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma” from the Twisters soundtrack.
Now, he returns with “Back in the Saddle,” a track warmly received by the country community that nearly adds another No. 1 to his catalog.
“Back in the Saddle” Debuts at No. 2
The Grammy-nominated singer launches his new song at No. 2 on the Country Digital Song Sales chart this week. “Back in the Saddle” is Combs’s forty-second top 10 and milestone fiftieth appearance on Billboard’s ranking of the bestselling country songs in the United States.
Morgan Wallen Holds Onto the No. 1 Spot
Morgan Wallen keeps Combs from opening in the top position this frame on the Country Digital Song Sales chart. His “Miami” remix featuring Lil Wayne and Rick Ross opens at No. 1 on the tally, adding to his list of leaders, but helping the two rappers lead for the first time.
Luke Combs Scores Two Wins
Combs claims two spots on the 15-song Country Digital Song Sales ranking this week. “Back in the Saddle” launches at No. 2, while “Backup Plan,” his collaboration with Bailey Zimmerman, slips from No. 11 to No. 13. The latter has spent 10 weeks on the list and previously reached the summit.
“Back in the Saddle” Debuts High on the Country Charts
“Back in the Saddle” enters the top 10 on most of Billboard’s country charts. It starts at No. 9 on Hot Country Songs ranking and No. 11 on both Country Streaming Songs and Country Airplay lists. The tune also debuts at No. 38 on the all-genre Hot 100, marking Combs’ thirty-eighth career appearance on the tally.
Lead Single for Luke Combs’ Upcoming Sixth Album
Combs is currently preparing his sixth studio album, though no title or release date has been revealed. “Back in the Saddle” serves as the lead single from the as-yet-unannounced project. The cut is his second release of 2025, following “Backup Plan,” which arrived in early May.
“Back Up Plan” Continues to Climb on Country Charts
Combs’ duet with Zimmerman can still be found on multiple Billboard charts. The cut has spent 13 weeks on Hot Country Songs ranking, where it holds at No. 8 this frame — just one spot shy of its peak of No. 7. The track also climbs to a new high at No. 8 on Country Airplay roster this week.
