Pop singer Madison Beer and Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert announced their engagement Tuesday, July 28, in a joint Instagram post, sharing a series of photos that included the NFL star on bended knee, ring box in hand, in front of a crouching Beer. The caption read three words: “meet my fiancé.”

The post arrived one day before Herbert reports to training camp for his seventh season and roughly a year after the two were first spotted together in August 2025 on the set of one of Beer’s music video shoots in Los Angeles. Congratulations rolled in from the NFL, the Chargers and fellow musicians including Gracie Abrams, bulow and more celebs.

Madison Beer’s “Rare” Engagement Ring

The centerpiece of the announcement that fans zeroed in on immediately — despite lack of a fully clear shot — is the ring itself.

According to Cosmopolitan’s interview with Kegan Fisher, the co-founder of jewelry brand Frank Darling, the ring itself is “exceptionally rare and very difficult to source” due to the diamond’s “extremely elongated cushion cut with a length-to-width ratio approaching 2:1” with Fisher estimating it to be at least 15 carats.

In terms of pricing, the jewelry expert estimates the ring cost Herbert at least half a million dollars.

“Depending on the exact color, clarity, and overall quality, a stone like this would likely be worth $500,000 to over $1 million,” Fisher told the magazine.

Relationship Timeline: Built In Public In One Year

The couple’s timeline played out largely in stadiums. ESPN reported that Beer attended Chargers games through the fall of 2025, with the relationship effectively confirmed when the two kissed on the sideline before the Week 5 matchup against the Washington Commanders.

The pair turned up together at a Dodgers World Series game in October as well as Lakers games — including the October 24, 2025 game when the couple sat court side and Herbert blocked a basketball coming straight into his future fiancé’s face.

Herbert appeared in the video for Beer’s single “lovergirl” (below) off her latest album Locket, this spring. In fact, Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh has been publicly supportive throughout. When Herbert skipped part of voluntary offseason workouts to travel with Beer on tour, Harbaugh’s response, as relayed by ESPN, was: “Do you need a ride to the airport?”

Madison Beer & Justin Herbert: Two Careers, Two Forbes Lists

The engagement joins two stars whom Forbes has tracked on the earnings side of their industries.

Beer is a Forbes 30 Under 30 – Music alumnus, named to the 2023 class. The 27-year-old also appeared at No. 38 on Forbes’ Top Creators list in 2023, with earnings of $2.77 million. Her rise dates back to 2012, when Justin Bieber shared one of her YouTube covers, and she has since released three studio albums, most recently Locket in January 2026, which has earned her new career highs. Locket’s lead single “Make You Mine” earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Pop Recording while its third single “Bittersweet” landed Beer’s first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Locket itself was also Beer’s first album to enter the Top 10 on the Billboard 200.

Meanwhile, Herbert ranked No. 5 on Forbes’ Highest-Paid NFL Players list in 2024 before climbing to No. 3 in 2025. On the broader World’s Highest-Paid Athletes list, he came in at No. 20 in 2024 and No. 26 in 2025. Forbes estimates his earnings at $71 million based on the 2025 Highest-Paid NFL Players list, as of Sept. 7, 2025 — a figure anchored by the five-year, $262.5 million extension he signed in 2023. Part of the 28-year-old’s wealth has come from off the field with Forbes estimating $11 million in earnings outside of his football career.
