Marina Bay City Shortlists Designs for New Convention Center in Lombok

Lombok, Indonesia – Marina Bay City, the ambitious multi-billion-dollar master-planned development in South Lombok, has announced that several architectural plans have now been shortlisted for the design of its upcoming convention center.

The facility, which is set to be one of the largest of its kind in the region, will initially span 2,500 square meters, with the ability to host 1,000 or more guests in theater-style seating. The design also allows for a strategic expansion to 5,000 square meters, doubling capacity to accommodate over 2,500 guests for major conferences, concerts, weddings, and large-scale international events.

A Catalyst for Tourism and Investment

Developers of Marina Bay City emphasized that the convention center will play a central role in attracting global conferences, cultural celebrations, and high-profile business gatherings. By anchoring large events in Lombok, the center is expected to significantly boost tourism, elevate the island’s international profile, and provide a strong economic ripple effect for local businesses.

“This project is about creating a world-class destination city,” a Marina Bay City spokesperson said. “The convention center will not only serve as a hub for conferences and weddings but will also help position Lombok as a premier venue for global events, directly supporting hotels, restaurants, and the broader tourism sector.”

Construction Timeline

The groundbreaking is scheduled for April 2026, with completion targeted for early 2027. The project forms part of Marina Bay City’s broader vision to establish South Lombok as a hub for international lifestyle, leisure, and investment, complementing other planned developments such as luxury resorts, a sports stadium, marinas, and a cultural precinct.

Part of a Larger Vision

Marina Bay City’s convention center announcement comes on the heels of several other major project unveilings, including plans for hotels, a 10,000-seat sports stadium, and a sports center. Together, these facilities are designed to create an ecosystem that can host everything from business summits and destination weddings to sporting events and music festivals, driving Lombok’s transformation into one of Asia’s most dynamic destinations.
