Where and when are Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua going to fight? It seems the fight is destined to be next for both men, but no one is publicly saying where or when the fight will take place. Recent news suggested the fight was headed for Madison Square Garden in New York, but that’s not sitting well with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom. We may have a long way to go with this one. Let’s talk boxing.

There is more on the record than the silence suggests. Reports put the fight at November 20 with a contract already signed for a UK staging, and that contract is the leverage Eddie Hearn is pulling on: “You didn’t do the venue deal because there’s no agreement on the venue, mate.”

The asking price is not a number yet. Matchroom wants compensation and concessions covering Joshua’s tax position, travel schedule and media duties. Will Hearn get his way or is this just performative protest? Unfortunately, it might be the latter.

Wembley Stadium has been the venue most often associated with the heavyweight super fight. It’s iconic and its the largest stadium in the UK with a capacity of 90,000.

However, the 11pm curfew is creating a major issue. Because of this, the event is seemingly being forced out of England and into the US where it can get what’s expected to be a suitable global audiences. This is how iconic MSG in New York City became a contender to host it.

I’m American, but I must admit, this fight just seems like it should be at Wembley Stadium or somewhere in England. As it is, money talks and appropriateness is often forced to sit down and shut its mouth. We’ll see what happens and the boxing world will be watching no matter where it happens.
