Manuel García-Rulfo is booked again for another day in court. Netflix has renewed The Lincoln Lawyer for a fifth season, locking in another 10 episodes with the Mexican actor in the lead role of defense attorney Mickey Haller. The early renewal comes just days before Season 4 premieres on February 5.

García-Rulfo’s star has been rising steadily, thanks in large part to his role in the legal drama. His work on the series, combined with projects like Pedro Páramo and Jurassic World Rebirth, has expanded his appeal across both English and Spanish-language audiences. The versatility he’s demonstrated, moving seamlessly between legal thrillers, literary adaptations, and blockbuster action films, has turned him into a recognizable face far beyond Hollywood.

Since its 2022 debut, The Lincoln Lawyer has been a viewer favorite, consistently making its way to Netflix’s Global Top 10 charts. The first season captivated audiences worldwide with more than 260 million hours viewed on the streamer in the first four weeks of its premiere. All three seasons have secured a spot on the Global Top 10 for 26 weeks, racking up 171 million views since 2023, according to Netflix data. The show’s fans have made it easy for Netflix to greenlight a new season.

“We’re so excited to share the upcoming fourth season with the audience on February 5th, and even more excited to share the news that we’re already hard at work on the next one,” say co-showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez. “Season Four is the most challenging and intensely personal journey we’ve taken Mickey Haller on yet, and we’re thrilled and grateful to be able to continue the ride in Season Five.”

Season 5 will draw from Resurrection Walk, the seventh book in Connelly’s series. For now, plot details remain under wraps.

Created for television by David E. Kelley and developed by Ted Humphrey, the show is executive produced by Humphrey, Rodriguez, Kelley, Connelly, Ross Fineman, Barry Jossen, Tana Jamieson, and Matthew J. Lieberman. A+E Studios produces.

A Peek into Season 4

Season 4 picks up right where the shocking Season 3 cliffhanger left off. Mickey finds himself behind bars, framed for the murder of former client Sam Scales, whose body was discovered in the trunk of his Lincoln. For the first time, the defense attorney becomes the defendant, forced to fight for his own freedom while facing off against ruthless prosecutor Dana Berg (Constance Zimmer).

The season is inspired by Michael Connelly’s novel The Law of Innocence and will test Mickey like never before. He’ll need help from his closest allies, including his ex-wives Maggie McPherson (Neve Campbell) and Lorna Crane (Becki Newton), along with private investigator Cisco Wojciechowski (Angus Sampson) and office manager Izzy Letts (Jazz Raycole).

New faces joining the cast include Cobie Smulders in an undisclosed role, Fiona Rene as FBI Agent Dawn Ruth, and Kyle Richards as Celeste Baker, a Beverly Hills client seeking Lorna’s help with a divorce.

The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 premieres February 5 on Netflix.
