Major League Baseball’s Field of Dreams game — set amid the cornfields of Iowa where Kevin Costner’s famed movie baseball field originated — will be available to watch live on Netflix in mid-August.
Field of Dreams, of course, follows the fantastical plight of Costner’s Ray Kinsella, who risks losing his Iowa farm by plowing under a portion of his cornfield by listening to voices in his head to construct a diamond for ghosts of baseball’s legends of the past to play on.
Released in 1989, Field of Dreams — which also starred Amy Madigan, Ray Liotta and James Earl Jones — was not only a theatrical hit and earned three Oscar nominations including Best Picture. Most importantly film’s legacy lived on as the ballfield used in the movie remained intact and has become a worldwide tourist destination.
Realizing the film’s vast contribution to professional baseball lore, MLB constructed its own temporary Field of Dreams in 2021 in the cornfields of Dyersville, which sits adjacent to the movie version of the field. MLB’s first Field of Dreams game was played on Aug. 12, 2021, when the Chicago White Sox took on the New York Yankees, with the Sox winning the inaugural game 9-8.

The second game at MLB’s Field of Dreams was held on Aug. 11, 2022, in which the Chicago Cubs defeated the Cincinnati Reds, 4-2. Since then, the iconic site has undergone a major renovation and expansion.
MLB’s Field of Dreams is returning for its third game on Thursday, Aug. 13, when the Minnesota Twins take on the Philadelphia Phillies. On Wednesday, Netflix announced its August 2026 schedule and noted that it will be livestreaming the game on the platform. Although Netflix has not announced when its pre-game programming will start, the game itself is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT.
The Return Of The ‘Field Of Dreams’ Game Was Announced Last November
The third in what will become an annual game at the newly renovated and expanded Field of Dreams facility was announced by MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred in November 2025.
“Iowa is thrilled to welcome MLB and its players back to the iconic Field of Dreams and a new permanent stadium for one of America’s favorite baseball traditions,” Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds said in a statement on MLB that accompanied Manfred’s announcement.
While the facility has been renovated and expanded, the cornfields remain a part of the Field of Dreams attraction.
“Set against a backdrop of rolling cornfields and a star-filled summer sky, this is an event unlike any other,” Reynolds said in the November 2025 statement. “We’re incredibly proud to host fans from across the country and around the world for a game they’ll never forget and an opportunity to experience everything that makes our state so special.”
Before the Field of Dreams game between the Twins and Phillies on Aug. 13, the facility will host a game on Aug. 11 between the Twins’ Triple-A club, the St. Paul Saints, and the Chicago Cubs’ Triple-A affiliate, the Iowa Cubs.
