Obsession is the wildest story out of Hollywood in some time, destined to make at least 100x its paltry budget, its director, Curry Barker, being offered $10 million for his next, unpitched film, and its star, Inde Navarrette, garnering serious awards buzz for her unhinged role in the film.
Now, Obsession’s Navarrette is obviously going to be in hot demand, and while we don’t know her next moves, she has revealed a specific role that she wants to land, and that’s in a fantasy series headed to Amazon:
“If I had to pick a specific role that I’ve secretly been keeping my eye on, it would be Violet Sorrengail. I’m a huge Fourth Wing fan, and I heard they were making it into a series.”
Fourth Wing has been in the works at Amazon for a long while, but as recently as May 11, two weeks ago, the series was officially ordered and will be released on the platform. Oscar winner Michael B. Jordan is an executive producer on the project. Here’s the synopsis of Fourth Wing, part of the Empyrean fantasy romance series by Rebecca Yaros:
“Violet Sorrengail is forced by her mother, General Sorrengail, to join the Basgiath War College and become a dragon rider in the kingdom of Navarre. Even though she has been trained her entire life to enter the Scribe Quadrant, Violet must endure deadly quests and competitions that push her to her limits while trying to avoid being killed by one of the most powerful riders in the quadrant, Xaden Riorson.”

Yaros has said the series will span five books, and three have been released thus far: Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, and Onyx Storm, the last of which was released in January 2025. While the series could head into a Game of Thrones situation of surpassing the source material, we have no idea how long it would take to get the show to air, nor how long the breaks between seasons would be. Or if it got enough viewership to land multiple seasons.
Naverrette’s acting journey is fascinating, with somewhat smaller supporting roles on shows like 13 Reasons Why and Superman and Lois that were not all that demanding in terms of acting range. Then, she goes full Freaky Nicki for Obsession and her profile has exploded from there. She does have two upcoming projects listed, in the works before Obsession’s debut, Kids of the Black Hole and Invertigo, but it stands to reason she may land something high-profile soon. Naturally, fans are already talking about what Marvel or DC superhero she could play (this always happens with any breakout star).
If Navarrette is expressing interest in the role, it stands to reason she would be heavily considered now that the series is actually coming to life. We’ll see if her dream pans out in the coming months, perhaps.
