The Ted Lasso season 4 premiere proves that nothing is truly done in Hollywood. The last time viewers saw erstwhile football-turned-soccer coach Ted Lasso, the mustachioed mentor had returned home to the United States to be with his son following a painful divorce.

Everyone else got their happy ending, or at least a suitable one. It seemed that co-creator and lead actor Jason Sudeikis and crew were finished.

But never underestimate the pull of what could have been—and the lure of tens of millions of dollars. Three years after the season 3 finale (billed the series finale) aired, Ted Lasso season 4 returns on Apple on Wednesday, August 5, with a whole lot of hype and an equal amount of questions.

Here’s everything to know about the new season of the beloved feel-good comedy.

When Does Ted Lasso Come Back?

The Ted Lasso season 4 release date is Wednesday, August 5, on Apple TV. The streamer has been known to drop highly anticipated episodes at 9 p.m. the previous day, though, so keep an eye on the app.

When Do New Ted Lasso Season 4 Episodes Come Out?

Following that debut, new episodes will release on Wednesdays. There are 10 episodes of season 4, which will run through October 7.

How To Watch Ted Lasso Season 4

You can watch Ted Lasso if you have Apple TV or a streaming bundle that includes Apple TV. For instance, you can subscribe to Apple TV through the Amazon Prime Video app for $9.99 per month.

What Is Ted Lasso Season 4 About?

This season, Ted (Jason Sudeikis) is tasked with a new challenge: Coaching a women’s professional team. Having worked miracles, with the help of his trusted staff, to bring Richmond back from relegation and finish second in the Premier League, Ted has decided to head back to the UK and try to do it again.

Owner Rebecca (Hannah Wallingham) has bankrolled a women’s team, and Ted, Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt), Roy (Brett Goldstein) and Keeley (Juno Temple) return for this adventure.

They’re joined by a host of new characters, including Alice (Tanya Reynolds), a new coach on the staff, and Gemma (Abbie Hern), a star player balancing professional soccer and law school.

Most of the players on the team in Ted Lasso seasons 1, 2 and 3 won’t return (well, save for cameos). Additionally, Henry Lasso has been recast, now played by Grant Feely, and will have a bigger role in Ted Lasso season 4 than in the previous seasons.

Major Changes in Ted Lasso Season 4

In addition to recasting Henry, which is the only major casting switch up, the new season of Ted Lasso also does not include Rupert (Anthony Head), Rebecca’s ex-husband and the villain of the previous three seasons. He hired Nate (Nick Mohammed) away from Richmond and was generally vile.

But the actor who played him was beloved in both the UK and U.S. for roles in Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, Little Britain, Merlin and the Nescafé Gold Blend coffee ads. Sadly, Head passed away earlier this year, though he didn’t have an arc on Ted Lasso season 4 planned, the show’s creators have indicated.
