Taylor Swift Breaks Her Tie With A Musical Superstar With Another No. 1

Once again, Taylor Swift is in charge of the Billboard Hot 100, the weekly list of the most consumed songs in America. For most musical artists, hitting the top spot on the ranking would be a career high point, but Swift has accomplished the feat many times over.

“Opalite” steps up to the peak position for the first time, becoming Swift’s fourteenth career winner on the most competitive songs tally in the United States. As she adds to her list of champions on the Billboard Hot 100, Swift also ups her total amount of time spent in that slot as she makes history in one more fashion.

Taylor Swift and “Opalite” Add to Her Time at No. 1

Billboard reports that as “Opalite” rises to No. 1, Swift has now spent a total of 47 weeks in the highest rung possible on the Billboard Hot 100. As of this period, she is now tied with Usher for the sixth-most total frames spent running the show.

Mariah Carey Still Leads the All-Time List

Swift and Usher have a long, long way to go before they come close to catching up to the all-time leader, Mariah Carey. Thanks in part to the fact that “All I Want for Christmas Is You” returns to the Billboard Hot 100’s top space every year for at least a frame, if not several, the celebrated singer and songwriter recently became the first musician to rack up one triple digit turns at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Carey has thus far spent 101 stints in that coveted spot. She is followed by Drake (60 weeks), The Beatles (59), Rihanna (56) and R&B vocal troupe Boyz II Men, which hit the summit alongside Carey, with 50 weeks ruling.

Taylor Swift’s Hot 100 No. 1s – How Many Weeks in the Top Spot?

Swift’s longest-running ruler on the Billboard Hot 100 is “The Fate of Ophelia,” which stands as her only track to command the tally for double-digit frames. The first single taken from her blockbuster album, The Life of a Showgirl – which also features “Opalite” – dominated for 10 periods beginning in mid-October 2025.

“Opalite” Jumps From No. 8 to No. 1

Last week, “Opalite” sat at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100, and its ascent is an impressive one. “Opalite” has been growing in popularity across radio stations throughout the U.S. for weeks now, ever since Swift chose it as the second official single from The Life of a Showgirl. The tune hits the top spot on both the Pop Airplay and Adult Pop Airplay charts this time around, while simultaneously advancing to a new high of No. 3 on the Radio Songs roster.

Sales Push Taylor Swift’s “Opalite” to the Summit

The Billboard Hot 100 is put together using streaming, sales and airplay data, and it is purchases that play the largest role in turning “Opalite” into a champion. Swift recently unveiled multiple remixes of the tune and also offered the smash for sale on physical formats, which are particularly popular within her own fan base. A more than 2,000% increase in sales helps send “Opalite” straight to the summit on the Billboard Hot 100. The track also adds to Swift’s already leading tally of No. 1s on the Digital Song Sales chart, where the cut becomes her thirty-first ruler.
