Taylor Swift’s Path To Becoming The Most-Nominated Act At The 2027 Grammys

Most years, Taylor Swift ranks among the most-nominated artists at the Grammys. The pop superstar has become such a favorite among Recording Academy voters – she’s already won 14 trophies – that whenever she releases an eligible album, she can usually be expected to appear in several of the largest and most competitive categories.

The 2027 Grammys may prove especially fruitful for Swift. The Life of a Showgirl should bring her back to both the pop and general fields, while “I Knew It, I Knew You,” which she wrote and recorded for Toy Story 5, could return her to the country categories. If everything works out perfectly, the singer may manage the rare feat of collecting double-digit nominations.

Taylor Swift Could Compete With The Life of a Showgirl

The center of Swift’s Grammy campaign this time around will be The Life of a Showgirl, which arrived last fall. The full-length could contend for both Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album, two prizes the singer-songwriter has claimed before.

Swift already holds the all-time record with four Album of the Year victories, with Fearless, 1989, Folklore and Midnights. Three of those projects — 1989, Folklore and Midnights — also won Best Pop Vocal Album.

Taylor Swift Has Several Possible General Field Nods

The Life of a Showgirl produced three major singles: “The Fate of Ophelia,” “Opalite” and “Elizabeth Taylor.” Swift’s team will have options when selecting which track — or tracks — to emphasize for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.

Record of the Year recognizes the overall recording, including the performance, production and engineering, while Song of the Year is awarded to songwriters. Swift has been nominated repeatedly for both honors, but she has never won either of them. She’ll almost surely find herself back in those fields, but they’re the toughest to claim.

Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter May Compete Together

Swift could also return to the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category with “The Life of a Showgirl,” the album’s title track, which is a collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter – the only one on the project.

The song was not released as one of the era’s singles, but it nevertheless became a major hit. Grammy voters have demonstrated quite a bit of enthusiasm for both women in recent years, which could help the duet stand out in a field that often mixes blockbuster collaborations with less obvious critical favorites.

A nomination would not be unusual for Swift. She has previously competed in the category with Bon Iver, Ice Spice, Kendrick Lamar and Gracie Abrams. Somehow, though, she’s never claimed this trophy either.

“I Knew It, I Knew You” Could Bring Taylor Swift Back to the Country Fields

“I Knew It, I Knew You” may be the recording that turns Swift from a heavily-nominated pop contender into one of the most-nominated artists at the 2027 ceremony.

The Toy Story 5 song has been promoted to country radio as well as pop formats, but Swift will almost certainly lean into her country roots for this one. Grammy rules permit an individual recording to compete in one specialized genre field, even when the album connected to that artist is classified elsewhere.

“I Knew It, I Knew You” could be entered for Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Song. It has been years since Swift appeared in the country categories, as she pivoted fully toward pop music more than a decade ago. She has occasionally returned, though, earning Best Country Song nominations for “Better Man” and “I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault),” but she hasn’t come out on top in a long time.

Taylor Swift May Score Several Visual Media Nominations

Because “I Knew It, I Knew You” was crafted for Toy Story 5, the composition could also compete for Best Song Written for Visual Media. Swift has been nominated in that category several times with works including “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever,” “Beautiful Ghosts” and “Carolina.”

Best Music Video presents another possible opportunity for one more nod. She has won that award before with “Bad Blood” and “All Too Well: The Short Film.”

Taylor Swift Could Earn 10 Grammy Nominations In a Year

Adding up the aforementioned possibilities shows Swift’s path to 10 nominations:

  • Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for The Life of a Showgirl
  • Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for one of its singles
  • Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for the Sabrina Carpenter collaboration
  • Best Country Song, Best Country Solo Performance and Best Song Written for Visual Media for “I Knew It, I Knew You”
  • Best Music Video for one of her latest era’s visuals

Earning all 10 would require an exceptional showing, but such a possibility is not outlandish for Swift. She is already one of the most consistently recognized artists in Grammy history, and the songs she’d submit were all hugely successful.

Kendrick Lamar led all musicians at the 2026 Grammys with nine nominations. One year earlier, Beyoncé collected 11 — the largest total at the show — and eventually won Album of the Year for Cowboy Carter, her first victory in the category. 10 (or more) nods for Swift isn’t out of the question, and even if she walks away empty-handed, the 2027 Grammys may belong to her.
