It’s Friday, and that means it’s the beginning of a new tracking week in the music industry. Most artists release songs and albums as Thursday turns to Friday, so they will enjoy a full seven days in which to sell as many copies and rack up as many streams as possible around the world, hopefully turning just-dropped projects and tunes into commercial smashes and chart wins.
In the earliest hours of this new frame, Taylor Swift scores the hottest new arrival. Several musical superstars surge north on iTunes with exciting drops, but none can beat the singer-songwriter’s latest single, “I Knew It, I Knew You.”
Taylor Swift Rules With “I Knew It, I Knew You”
Swift easily conquers the iTunes Top Songs chart, which details the bestselling tracks on that one platform in America. Purchases of both albums and tracks have dwindled for decades, and these days, it is plays on platforms such as Spotify that typically turn any song into a longstanding win on the charts. Swift has been able to cultivate a fan base that loves to purchase her music, and she regularly manages sales feats that no other act can approach.
“I Knew It, I Knew You” sits at No. 1 on the iTunes Top Songs tally at the beginning of this tracking period, and it could hold in that spot for days.
Taylor Swift Beats Madonna, Muse and Keith Urban
Swift leads a busy top 10 on the iTunes Top Songs chart. Six spaces within that uppermost tier are occupied by brand new releases. The top 10 also includes tracks from artists like Keith Urban, Madonna, Muse and Lee Brice. Three versions of Ariana Grande’s “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” the lead single from her soon-to-be-released album Petal, also land within the region.
Taylor Swift Scores a Trio of Bestsellers
Looking at the full 200-space iTunes Top Songs chart, Swift only appears with a trio of hits. The two biggest singles from her album The Life of a Showgirl climb as fans are quickly snapping up anything recent from the superstar. “The Fate of Ophelia,” which was pushed as the first promotional cut, returns to the top half of the ranking, ascending 17 spaces to No. 98. “Opalite,” the second The Life of a Showgirl single, advances slightly and makes a home at No. 133.
Taylor Swift Returns to Country
“I Knew It, I Knew You” is Swift’s first piece of new music this year. She has spent much of 2026, as well as the latter part of 2025, promoting The Life of a Showgirl and its several smashes.
The singer penned and recorded “I Knew It, I Knew You” for the movie Toy Story 5, which will be released in theaters later this month. Disney began teasing the musician’s involvement with social media ads and billboards that shortened Toy Story to simply TS. Fans caught on and speculated that she had written a song for the film, and they were right. The track, which returns Swift to her country roots, was co-written by Swift and her longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff.
