These New York City Restaurants Are Fundraising For Gaza

As hunger proliferates through Gaza, several New York City restaurants and bars are stepping up to help support Palestinians.

Various fundraisers are donating proceeds to organizations and mutual aid campaigns to help support Gazans in need of food. Here’s where to find restaurants supporting humanitarian and food aid in Palestine:

This Palestinian restaurant with locations in Bay Ridge, Ditmas Park, and Bushwick, Brooklyn, has been organizing fundraisers to send money directly to Palestine. Events include community dinners and meals to organize and feed supporters while collecting funds. This July, a group events helped raised over $25,000 to get clean water to Gaza.

The 30-year-old Park Slope lesbian bar is hosting a fundraiser on the afternoon of Sunday, August vending crafts from local artisans to raise money for families in Gaza and the West Bank.

The pop-up by chef Rasika Venkatesa at Baba Cool in Williamsburg on August 6 and 7 will donate 70% of food sales to World Central Kitchen to support on-the-ground food aid in Gaza.

“Everyday we are privileged enough to cook ourselves a warm meal, buy ourselves groceries and as chefs, share our food with other people,” said Venkatesa. “That privilege does not exist in Gaza and has not for a long time. Politics is one thing but when someone purposefully takes away sustenance from another community of humans beings – It is inhumane. We will NOT stand by and swallow this Genocide.”

Bushwick’s queer and trans bookstore and coffee shop donates a portion of proceeds to Palestine Children’s Relief Fund. Recently, the small business sent a $1000 donation to a direct effort on the ground in Gaza helping to secure clean water for Gazans.

“We made a donation of $1,000 based on sales from the last few months. Thank you for making this possible. It came from every book, beverage, sticker, cookie, etc we’ve sold,” the shop shared on Instagram. “Our profit as a small business in our first year is humble, and money is not the answer to everything, but right now it can help and we are committed to sharing as much as we can. This is a fundamental part of why we are in business, to share our resources to help people.”

Newly opened Fort Greene bakery makes monthly donations. In July, a portion of proceeds went to World Central Kitchen, which helps provide meals in Gaza. “I feel extremely privileged to create food for gathering, joy and celebration – we do not do so lightly knowing that historically and currently food has been wielded as a weapon,” shared bakery proprietor Morgan Knight. “Food is, and always has been, political.”

This Greenpoint staple is pledging $1 from every order of chips and aioli ($11) to “grassroot charities providing food in Palestine.”
