It’s been more than two years since Toby Keith passed away at the age of 62 following a years-long battle with cancer. The consumption of the country musician’s catalog spiked in the weeks following his death, and Americans quickly turned his compilation 35 Biggest Hits into another No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

That set has remained a favorite among millions of listeners in the United States for years, and it has kept Keith’s name on the charts ever since his passing. As it once again ranks among the 200 most popular musical projects in the nation, Keith posthumously reaches a longevity milestone for the first time in his career.

Toby Keith’s 35 Biggest Hits Reaches a Landmark

35 Biggest Hits drops from No. 47 to No. 60 on this week’s Billboard 200. The chart ranks the most-consumed albums and EPs in the U.S., regardless of genre. Both sales and streams are included in the ranking’s methodology, and according to Luminate, 35 Biggest Hits moved another 16,600 equivalent units in the tracking frame reflected on the current lists between those two consumption metrics. Keith’s beloved singles collection has now spent 250 weeks on the ranking, which is a first for the late, great superstar.

Toby Keith Claims Three Triple-Digit-Week Winners

Only two other titles by Keith – out of 25 albums that have reached the Billboard 200 – have spent triple-digit weeks on the rundown. Unleashed managed to hold on for exactly two years – 104 frames – while Greatest Hits 2 ranked among the 200 top performers in the U.S. for 106 periods. Another album, How Do You Like Me Now?!, which only rose as high as No. 56, came close to cracking triple digits, as it lived on the Billboard 200 for 92 weeks.

Toby Keith Charted a Posthumous No. 1

Keith debuted 35 Biggest Hits on the Billboard 200 in May 2008, but it wasn’t until a week after his passing that the title became a shocking champion. The set bolted all the way to No. 1 on the list dated February 17, 2024, adding a fifth leader to his career total. 35 Biggest Hits joined previous rulers Unleashed, Shock’n Y’all, Big Dog Daddy and Bullets in the Gun. All five of his No. 1s on the Billboard 200 have only commanded the list for one frame.

35 Biggest Hits Still Performs Well to This Day

35 Biggest Hits only appears on two Billboard rankings at the moment, and it performs significantly better on the list that is not the Billboard 200. On the Top Country Albums chart, Keith’s collection slides one space to No. 12. The former No. 1 – it has spent three weeks in charge of that genre-specific rundown – has now been counted among the most successful country projects for 390 weeks.

While Keith has only seen a very small number of albums live on the Billboard 200 for 100 frames or longer, he’s proved even more successful on the Top Country Albums tally. Including 35 Biggest Hits, eight releases by Keith have managed the feat. That roundup includes fan favorites like Pull My Chain, Unleashed, How Do You Like Me Now?! and multiple compilations packed with his most famous songs.
