The Association of Pickleball Players (APP) just held the latest of its 2026 slate of international events. The tour visited Japan, specifically Utsunomiya City in the Tochigi Prefecture, for the 2026 Kinto APP Asia Qualifier.
This event was held in partnership with Pickleball Japan, and the tournament management software in use to track player entries and draws is at pickleballjapan.org.
Let’s do a quick recap of the results, highlighting the winners, the upsets, and the top International players who made waves. This event was a throwback to the “old way” of hosting events, with Singles playing to completion on Friday, Gender Saturday, and Mixed Sunday.
Men’s Pro Singles Recap
The two top seeds in No. 1 Jake Bower and No. 2 Mauro Garcia cruised through the mostly Japan-based draw with too much trouble to meet in the final. There, the 18yr old from Spain Garcia topped the 23-yr old Floridian (who is fresh off of a 3-medal performance at the most recent APP Next event in Dallas) in two straight to claim gold.
Women’s Pro Singles Recap
The two top traveling US-based pros (No. 1 Bobbi Oshiro and No. 2 Brooke Revuelta) matriculated into the semis as expected, where they faced two of the better players in the region: Australian No. 4 seed Nicola Schoeman and Taiwan’s Yu-Chieh Hsieh. In the semis, Oshiro topped Schoeman with ease, while Hsieh dominated Revuelta 9,3 to make the final. Oshiro was made to work for it, dropping the first game, but came back to beat Hsieh for the gold.
Mixed Pro Doubles Recap
Bobbi Oshiro and Keven Wong teamed up to take the Mixed pro draw, giving both players double golds for the week. In the final they took out Richmond-based newlyweds David Bieger & Lauralei Singsank, giving Singsank her first professional medal in any competition.

Despite a large draw of native Asian players, the semi-finals was an all-traveling pro affair. In the first semi, the No. 4 seeds Keven Wong & Daniel Moore upset the top seeded Will Wimbish & Roman Estareja, while from the bottom half the burgeoning pros Jake Bower & David Bieger (both APP Next grads and recent intercollegiate players) topped Mauro Garcia * Santhosh Narayanan to play for gold. In the final, Wong & Moore cruised to the win 3,9.
Women’s Pro Doubles Recap
One of the APP Next program’s most decorated pros in Brooke Revuelta teamed with Australia’s Nicola Schoemann to take out veteran APP pro and top seed Bobbi Oshiro, partnered in this event with Fukunaga Hinano.
With this story published, the Medal Tracker is updated online. Please visit the “APP Intl” tab for a complete list of all prior Medal winners at all APP International events. Next up for the APP Tour? According to my Master Pickleball Schedule, the next APP International event will be in two weeks’ time in Malaysia for the 2026 Leapmotor APP Penang Open.
