At WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event 2026, cult sensation Danhausen returned to New York City in epic fashion.

Earlier this year, the wildly popular star infamously “uncursed” the New York Knicks, who went on to win their first NBA Championship in more than 50 years. As silly as that may sound, it led to Danhausen becoming one of the most beloved sports figures in New York, making his arrival in Madison Square Garden one with perfect timing.

As the legend of Danhausen continues to grow, he entered this Saturday Night’s Main Event with a marquee match against The Judgment Day’s JD McDonagh.

WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event 2026 Results For Danhausen Vs. JD McDonagh

At the latest edition of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, Danhausen took one step toward becoming an even bigger NYC legend.

In one of the show’s most memorable moments, Danhausen defeated McDonagh thanks to a massive assist from New York Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns. The MSG crowd erupted as the beloved fan favorite secured the victory thanks to the 2026 NBA Champion.

Let’s take a look at those key moments and biggest takeaways from Danhausen’s WWE SNME victory:

  • The crowd chanted “You are cursed!” along with Danhausen at the beginning of the match, but a distraction from Dominik Mysterio allowed McDonagh to quickly gain control. He tossed Danhausen into the barricade at ringside.
  • Outside the ring, Mysterio wiped his shoes off using Danhausen’s custom Knicks’ jersey as the crowd booed loudly. Back in the ring, McDonagh continued to beat down Danhausen, who began to fight back. McDonagh hit a big brainbuster for a two-count.
  • McDonagh wiped the Knicks jersey on his backside as the crowd erupted in boos again. He then missed a Moonsault, and Danhausen put on the Knicks jersey. That seemed to give Danhausen superpowers as he fought back and hit an inverted atomic drop and big clothesline, then a suplex on Mysterio.
  • Danhausen hit a running splash on McDonagh, who rolled him up for two. McDonagh went for a suplex, but Danhausen reversed into a modified stunner for a two-count of his own. The crowd chanted loudly for Danhausen, but Mysterio interfered as the referee did nothing due to the No DQ stipulation.
  • As Mysterio and McDonagh beat down Danhausen, they tore his his Knicks jersey and ripped it off, which the crowd despised. Mysterio and MCdonagh pulled a table from under the ring, but a slew of a “Mini-hausens” showed up and attacked them.
  • Mysterio and Mconagh fended off the attack, but Danhausen had gone to the cloning machine on the entrance stage. As they tried to beat down a Mini-hausen in the ring, Danhausen worked his magic on the cloning machine. He put a stuffed black cat in the machine, and out of the machine came “KAT,” the Knicks’ Karl-Anthony Towns. The crowd went absolutely crazy.
  • Towns hit a massive choke slam on McDonagh and then did the same on Mysterio through a table. Towns did the “You are cursed” taunt, and then Danhausen hit the DDD on McDonagh for the win.

WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event 2026 Results: What’s Next For Danhausen?

In just half a year after a disastrous WWE debut back in February, Danhausen has established himself as one of the company’s most reliable and marketable stars.

Back in May, former WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, arguably its No. 1 star, even said that Danhausen was the merchandise “king” of WWE. That’s a testament to Danhausen’s incredible ability to know his role and play it to perfection. He has now entered himself into the same territory as stars like R-Truth, who’ve made lengthy careers out of sheer comedic ridiculousness.

Over the past few months, Danhausen has been at odds with fellow midcard stars like McDonagh, Kit Wilson and The Miz, and that role has suited him very well. Danhausen, of course, isn’t a moneymaker for WWE because of his abilities in the ring. He’s been a hit in pro wrestling’s biggest company because of his connection with the crowd and his ability to make even the lamest of segments seem, well, actually funny.

Even with Danhausen picking up a win over McDonagh at WWE SNME, fans should not expect a massive push as a wrestler moving forward. WWE has already found a winning formula with Danhausen’s booking, with frequent backstage segments and infrequent matches serving him well.

Despite a big win at WWE SNME, that should remain the formula in the months ahead. There is, after all, no need to change something that already works.
