X Games League Standings After First Event Of Season In Sacramento

X Games Sacramento 2026 launched the inaugural X Games League (XGL), transforming the longtime individual competition into a season-long, team-based championship while still crowning individual medalists.

After 18 medal events across skateboarding, BMX and Moto X (though the latter did not count toward XGL standings), XC Tokyo emerged atop the inaugural XGL standings with 980 points, narrowly ahead of XC São Paulo and XC New York, which are tied at 950. XC Los Angeles sits fourth with 810 points heading into the second stop of the season in Chiba, Japan.

The Sacramento event marked a significant shift for X Games. Rather than serving as a standalone summer competition, it opened a three-stop season in which athletes compete not only for medals but also for points that contribute to their city-based clubs’ pursuit of the first X Games League championship.

The league debuted with four summer clubs—Los Angeles, New York, São Paulo and Tokyo—with 40 athletes selected through a draft and retained by teams across multiple seasons.

Nearly 100 skateboarders and BMX riders will compete throughout the summer before the inaugural championship is decided July 24–26 in New Orleans. Four winter clubs are scheduled to join the league beginning in 2027.

Sacramento delivered a weekend filled with historic performances, breakthrough victories and never-before-seen tricks.

One of the biggest surprises came in the men’s BMX park final, where free agent Justin Dowell captured gold despite not being drafted to an XGL club. The valuable team points he could have contributed were left on the table, underscoring the strategic importance of roster construction under the league’s new format.

Australian skateboarding star Arisa Trew continued to redefine what’s possible. The 16-year-old claimed women’s skateboard park gold while becoming the first skateboarder—male or female—to land a switch McTwist in competition. She later added a second gold in Skateboard Vert Best Trick, earning the 10th gold medal of her X Games career and tying the record for most X Games gold medals by a woman.

Seventeen-year-old Brazilian Gui Khury extended his remarkable run in vert competition, winning Vert Best Trick with a kickflip body varial 900 to secure his sixth consecutive title in the discipline. He followed that performance with another gold in men’s skateboard vert, bringing his career total to 12 X Games gold medals and further cementing his status as the most decorated teenage athlete in X Games history.

Japan’s Ginwoo Onodera, 16, claimed men’s skateboard street gold after holding off a field headlined by Nyjah Huston, while 11-year-old Australian Mia Kretzer capitalized when Trew was unable to complete her difficult final run to capture women’s skateboard vert gold.

Australia’s Ryan Williams landed another never-before-done trick—an alley-oop 540 frontflip flair—to win BMX Park Best Trick, announcing afterward that he plans to call the trick the “Oliver Twist” in tribute to the late musician Oliver Tree. Williams later added another gold medal in BMX Dirt Best Trick to cap an impressive weekend.

Elsewhere, Brady Baker thrilled the hometown crowd by winning BMX dirt for XC Los Angeles, Garrett Reynolds earned men’s BMX street gold, Germany’s Kim Mueller upset defending champion Hannah Roberts in women’s BMX park, and Japan’s Miyo Ito ended Chloe Covell’s three-event winning streak by capturing women’s skateboard street.

Although Moto X events do not contribute to XGL team standings, they remained part of the Sacramento program. Belgium’s Julien Vanstippen won Best Whip, while Patrick Evans claimed Moto X Best Trick on the event’s only electric motorcycle with a Nak-Nak no-hander front flip.
