The main event exists because of how the Undisputed title changed hands twice in nine days. Zayn took the belt from Rhodes in the Triple Threat at Night of Champions, then Gunther took Rhodes out on Raw, which opened the door for Punk to step in and end Zayn’s reign.
Creative has Punk and Rhodes forced to co-exist weeks before they meet for the title at SummerSlam. Paige and Brie Bella defend against Fatal Influence, a pairing that stems from Paige’s WrestleMania 42 return and the aggressive push Fatal Influence got on SmackDown.
Which Celebrities Are Appearing at Saturday Night’s Main Event?
Jalen Brunson is the confirmed one. The Knicks captain and NBA Finals MVP accepted an on-air invitation from Reigns and will appear in a non-physical role as he recovers from wrist surgery.
The rest of the star power sits across the street at the Javits Center. WWE has Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, John Cena, Seth Rollins, CM Punk, Rhea Ripley and The Undertaker booked for Fanatics Fest, which runs July 16-19, so anyone on that list is already in the building’s zip code.
