She won hearts – and two gold medals – at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympic Games, but Alysa Liu is not done with figure skating.

The reigning Olympic and world champion in women’s figure skating will officially return to the ice this fall. Liu will headline the U.S. National Team’s contingent at the 2026 Skate America competition, U.S. Figure Skating announced Tuesday.

Part of the 2026 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, Skate America will be held in Everett, Washington, from November 13-15. Liu won the event in 2025 over Rinka Watanabe (Japan) and Anastasiia Gubanova (Georgia).

Later that month, Liu is also slated to compete at Finlandia Trophy in Helsinki, Finland. She will be joined by 2026 Olympian Isabeau Levito in Finland. Though Levito left Milan-Cortina empty-handed, she finished just off the podium at the recent world championships and is a six-time ISU Grand Prix medalist.

Post-Milan Cortina Fame for Alysa Liu

Though Skate America will likely mark Liu’s first competitive appearance since she struck gold in Italy, the 20-year-old’s schedule has been fully booked off-ice.

Liu just wrapped up a grueling stint with the Stars on Ice tour, visiting nearly 30 U.S. locations in just over a month. Between performances, Liu starred at the Met Gala, presented an award to Taylor Swift at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, and was named to Time’s 100 Most Influential list.

Due to her numerous professional opportunities and newfound celebrity status, Liu opted to skip the World Championships in March, where 2026 Olympic silver medalist Kaori Sakamoto (Japan) won gold.

Amber Glenn, Ilia Malinin To Join Liu at Skate America

2026 Olympic teammate and fellow “Blade Angel,” Amber Glenn, will join Liu on the U.S. National team women’s roster in Everett. Glenn finished fifth in Milan-Cortina and sixth at the world championships, but helped Team USA to gold in the team event.

On the American men’s side, “Quad God” and defending men’s world champion Ilia Malinin will lead the charge. Malinin will return to Skate America for the first time since 2024, looking to win his fourth title. He will be joined by veteran skater and two-time Olympian Jason Brown.

2026 World bronze medalists, Emilea Zingas and Vadym Kolesnik, will headline the U.S. ice dance challengers, while defending U.S. Pairs Champions Alisa Efimova and Misha Mitrofanov seek their first Skate America title.
