The BBC has unveiled the first trailer for the upcoming documentary Sharon & Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home, which chronicles the Osbournes’ move back to the UK and Ozzy Osbourne’s final years. Originally the documentary was scheduled to air on August 18th, but it was pushed back following Osbourne’s death – Ozzy Osbourne died of a heart attack on July 22nd.

“Our sympathies are with the Osbourne family at this difficult time,” The BBC said following their decision to postpone the film. “We are respecting the family’s wishes to wait a bit longer before airing this very special film. The new [transmission] date will be confirmed shortly.”

The BBC notes that the documentary was originally made as a 10-part series entitled Home to Roost, and it was based around Ozzy and Sharon’s “attempt to re-start their lives” in Buckinghamshire. With Ozzy’s health deteriorating, the decision was made to convert the series into an hour-long short film chronicling the last three years of his life.

The Trailer for Sharon & Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home

The trailer for the upcoming film shows off the Osbourne family getting settled and reacquainted in their home in Buckinghamshire. It’s cathartic and heartwarming to see the family doing so well, especially Ozzy who at the time was dealing with a number a of health complications, including Parkinson’s disease. Provided the film was originally meant to be a 10-episode series, it’ll be interesting to see how the production team managed to condense all the footage into a single hour. The trailer doesn’t reveal much of what the film is themed around, apart from the family just going about their daily lives in Buckinghamshire.

The BBC’s head of commissioning documentaries, Clare Sillery, had stated “the film captures an intimate glimpse into their journey as they prepare to return to the U.K. It features family moments, humor, reflection and shows the enduring spirit that made Ozzy a global icon.”

Based off the trailer, there’s no indication if the film will touch on the events from this year, specifically Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath’s final show, Back to the Beginning. However, in August prior to the BBC delaying the film, they had mentioned their upcoming Ozzy Osbounre documentary would “show his fans ‘the final chapter’ of his life, including his journey to performing at Black Sabbath’s farewell show in Birmingham in July.”

If this previous article is any to go off of, then Sharon & Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home will likely be covering some aspect of Ozzy Osbourne’s final performance.
