Just last week, Benson Boone’s sophomore album American Heart debuted on the Billboard charts. In most cases, the full-length brought the pop singer-songwriter to new heights, coming within one spot of the throne on the Billboard 200.
As is often the case with new releases, American Heart has started to fall in its second frame on the tallies, but one track from the set continues to rise, as a single from American Heart reaches a new peak on more than half of the Billboard rankings where it appears this week.
“Mystical Magical” Continues its Hot 100 Ascent
“Mystical Magical,” selected as the second single from American Heart, was released in April, several months before the full-length dropped. Since then, the tune has become one of Boone’s most successful tracks. Months into its lifespan, the cut continues to climb across a variety of consumption metrics, as Americans seem to be steadily discovering — and falling in love with — the track.
This week, “Mystical Magical” reaches No. 17 on the Hot 100. That’s a new all-time best showing for the composition on the list of the most popular songs in the U.S.
Benson Boone’s Second-Highest-Rising Hot 100 Hit
“Mystical Magical” now stands as Boone’s second-highest-charting title on the Hot 100, as it leaps from No. 21 to No. 17. The track passes “Sorry I’m Here for Someone Else” for that honor, as that single peaked at No. 19. His biggest win remains “Beautiful Things,” which missed No. 1 by just one space – and which continues to outpace even his newer releases.
A Huge Sales Spike
Purchases of “Mystical Magical” are playing a large role in its ascent on the Hot 100. From one frame to the next, sales of the tune grew by 48%, according to Luminate. In the past tracking span, “Mystical Magical” sold just under 2,600 copies — nearly 1,000 more than the 1,700-plus it moved the period prior.
This week, “Mystical Magical” jumps from No. 21 to No. 7 on the Digital Song Sales chart. That’s also a new peak for the track, which had previously topped out at No. 9.
Benson Boone Soars on Pop Radio with “Mystical Magical”
Boone’s single also lifts to never-before-seen high points on two radio rankings. “Mystical Magical” flies from No. 29 to No. 20 on the Adult Pop Airplay chart, and from No. 27 to No. 22 on the Pop Airplay list. As sales of the American Heart single grow, it seems that programmers and DJs across the country are also continuing to show their support for Boone’s cut.
