Ella Langley Matches Her Duet Partner’s Historic Run At No. 1

For the past several months, every time Billboard has refreshed its charts, Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” has made history in one more fashion, if not several. The track, one of the biggest country hits in recent memory, leads the Hot Country Songs tally, which ranks the most popular and most-consumed tunes in that one style. Sales, streams and airplay all factor into where a cut lands, and throughout much of 2026, nothing has been able to topple “Choosin’ Texas.”

As Langley leads the charge once more, she advances again on one of the most important all-time rankings, and even manages to match a historic record managed by a fellow country powerhouse with whom she collaborated only a few weeks ago.

Ella Langley Rules Again With “Choosin’ Texas”

“Choosin’ Texas” rules the Hot Country Songs chart for a milestone twenty-fifth week. As of this period, it is one of only six singles to occupy the loftiest space for that length of time, and Langley’s career-defining tune is currently tied as one the fifth-longest-running champions ever.

“Choosin’ Texas” Ties Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night”

As it reaches 25 weeks at the Hot Country Songs chart’s summit, “Choosin’ Texas” ties with Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night.” The two smashes jointly claim to be the fifth-longest-running rulers ever. “Last Night” reached the peak position in 2023 and held there for just under half a year.

Ella Langley Fills the Top Three

Langley fills the entirety of the top three on this week’s Hot Country Songs chart, and “Choosin’ Texas” blocks several other smashes by the singer-songwriter from hitting No. 1. Second Dandelion single “Be Her” is steady in the runner-up rung, while “I Can’t Love You Anymore,” Langley’s collaboration with Wallen, holds at No. 3. That position holds as the smash’s all-time high.

“Choosin’ Texas” May Pass “Last Night” Next Week

It seems likely that in a few days, when Billboard once again publishes a new set of charts, “Choosin’ Texas” will appear at No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs ranking. If that does occur, Langley’s single will break out of its tie with “Last Night” and solely claim the honor of being the fifth-longest-running ruler in the roster’s history, while Wallen’s song will descend to sixth place.

If “Choosin’ Texas” can hold in the penthouse for another two turns – which, again, seems entirely plausible – it will match Gabby Barrett’s “I Hope” as the fourth-longest-running No. 1. The American Idol winner’s career-making hit dominated for 27 frames between 2020 and 2021.

“Choosin’ Texas” May Never Catch Up to the All-Time No. 1

“Choosin’ Texas” has a long way to go before it challenges the three longest-charting tracks on the Hot Country Songs list. Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line may forever sit at No. 1 on this rundown, as their “Meant to Be” topped the tally for 50 weeks between 2017 and 2018. Shaboozey’s historic win “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” managed 45 turns in the spotlight, while Sam Hunt’s “Body Like a Back Road” appeared in that space 34 times.

“Choosin’ Texas” Leads Six Billboard Rankings

The Hot Country Songs chart is one of half a dozen rankings published by Billboard where “Choosin’ Texas” is a non-mover at No. 1. The track also leads both the Country Streaming Songs and Country Digital Song Sales tallies, as well as three rundowns that are not specific to one style: the Billboard Hot 100 and the Streaming Songs and Digital Song Sales charts.
