Today’s Wordle Answer: Sunday, August 30

Today’s Wordle Etymology

“Intel,” meaning “information” or “intelligence,” is a 20th-century shortening of intelligence, especially in military and espionage jargon. Intelligence itself comes from Latin intelligentia (“understanding”), from intelligere (“to understand, discern”).

Today’s Wordle Bot Analysis: Sunday, August 30

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordle score with Wordle Bot right here.

LINGO got me three yellow boxes and left me with just 18 words. ALIEN slashed that down to three, though I thought of INTEL first and just popped it in and luckily that was the Wordle. The other two words were INLET and INCEL. It’s kind of hilarious that INCEL is even an option.

Competitive Wordle Score

I was feeling good about guessing this in three but the Bot got it in two somehow. That’s 1 point for me immediately taken away for losing to the Bot, who gets 2 for guessing in two and 1 for beating me. Our totals narrow, not that there’s any hope for the poor old Bot this month. Our updated score places me at double the points:

Erik: 32 points

Wordle Bot: 16 points

Today’s Bonus Custom Wordle: Friday, August 28

Today’s Bonus Custom Wordle is 6 letters long.

How To Play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
  • Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!
