Blackpink singer Jennie claims one of the biggest hits of the year with “Dracula.” She is included on the remix of the tune, which was originally a solo cut by Tame Impala. The two musical acts have pushed their version of “Dracula” to the highest reaches on a number of Billboard charts, and the single has become Jennie’s biggest hit – either on her own or with the girl group that made her famous.
Sadly, it seems that her newfound and ongoing success with “Dracula” does not necessarily transfer over to new music. Jennie’s latest solo single fails to make much of an impact in the United States, even as it performs considerably better around the world.
Jennie Misses the Billboard Hot 100
Jennie’s new single “Less Than a Lover” reaches only one Billboard tally that focuses on listening habits in America. The track completely misses the Billboard Hot 100 – where “Dracula” currently sits at No. 6 – the main songs ranking that incorporates sales, streams and radio airplay.
“Less Than a Lover” does appear on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart, a 25-position extension for tracks that have not yet reached the main roster. Jennie’s latest opens at No. 7.
The single did not rack up enough plays on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music to reach the Streaming Songs tally, nor did it sell well enough to appear on the Digital Song Sales chart. Whether “Less Than a Lover” is being promoted to pop radio yet, or if Billboard would classify it as dance or electronic, is unclear, as it does not make a splash on any of the company’s pop, dance or electronic rankings.
Jennie Scores Her Third Bubbling Under Hot 100 Hit
Jennie has now seen three of her solo cuts reach the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart, and all three have placed within the top 10 on the 25-space list.
“One of the Girls,” her collaboration with The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp, climbed all the way to No. 1 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100. The tune eventually graduated to the more competitive Billboard Hot 100, where it soared as high as No. 51. “You & Me” missed the Billboard Hot 100 by only two spaces.
Jennie Nearly Scores Another Global Top 10
“Less Than a Lover” performs significantly better on Billboard’s worldwide rankings. The track nearly lands inside the top 10 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. – which measures streaming and sales activity from around the world while removing consumption from the United States – where it debuts at No. 11.
That showing is stronger than its starting point on the Billboard Global 200, which does include American streams and sales. On that entirely worldwide tally, “Less Than a Lover” opens at No. 26.
Jennie Charts Three Hits on the Global Rankings
Jennie claims three hits on both of Billboard’s global rankings this week. “Dracula” with Tame Impala is still comfortable inside the top 10, while “One of the Girls” climbs again.
