LUX Property Group Eyes Landmark Eco Resort and Convention Centre in Indonesia’s New Capital, Nusantara
NUSANTARA, INDONESIA | LUX Property Group has formally expressed interest in developing a landmark eco resort and international convention centre in Indonesia’s new capital, Nusantara, following a recent visit by the company’s Founder, Jamie McIntyre.
After touring the rapidly developing capital city in East Kalimantan, McIntyre said he was impressed by the scale, vision and quality of what is being built.
“I’ve travelled extensively around the world, and Nusantara exceeded my expectations,” he said.
“It has the potential to become one of the world’s most modern, environmentally sustainable and liveable capital cities. Indonesia should be incredibly proud of what it is creating.”
LUX Property Group, which is currently developing hospitality projects across Bali and the master-planned Nesara Bay City eco city in South Lombok, has now written to the Nusantara Capital Authority expressing its interest in becoming one of the city’s private sector investment partners.
The company is proposing a world-class integrated eco resort featuring luxury accommodation, wellness facilities, restaurants, cafés and tropical landscaped gardens.
A centrepiece of the proposal would be a crystal-clear beach-style lagoon and public swimming attraction inspired by Brisbane’s famous South Bank Parklands, creating a unique recreational destination for both residents and visitors.
LUX Property Group also hopes to incorporate a major international convention and exhibition centre capable of hosting government conferences, ASEAN meetings, corporate events, technology expos, sustainability forums, tourism conferences and cultural festivals.
McIntyre believes facilities of this calibre will become increasingly important as Nusantara grows into Indonesia’s administrative, diplomatic and business capital.
“Every great capital city eventually develops landmark destinations that attract both visitors and major international events,” he said.
“We believe Nusantara presents an opportunity to create a world-class integrated resort that complements the Government’s vision while supporting tourism, investment, business travel and international conferences.”
The company has requested information from the Nusantara Capital Authority regarding hospitality investment opportunities, tourism precincts, land availability, environmental requirements and the approval process for private developers.
LUX Property Group says it is committed to environmentally responsible development and intends to ensure any future proposal aligns with Nusantara’s master plan and sustainability objectives.
The company also indicated it would welcome the opportunity to meet with representatives of the Nusantara Capital Authority to present concept designs and explore how the project could contribute to the long-term success of Indonesia’s new capital.
If realised, the proposed development would further expand LUX Property Group’s Indonesian portfolio, which already includes hospitality and tourism projects in Bali together with the Nesara Bay City master-planned development in South Lombok.
The company says its vision is to help create destinations that combine sustainable development, tourism, wellness and investment while supporting Indonesia’s emergence as one of Asia’s leading tourism and business destinations.
