Madonna has three songs on the Billboard charts this week, and all of them are featured on her latest album, Confessions II. The sequel to Confessions on a Dance Floor – which is still regarded as one of her best releases more than two decades after it dropped – was a quick commercial win as it debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 while simultaneously earning praise from critics and fans alike.
Only four tunes from the set have been pushed as singles, either in the traditional way or as promotional cuts, and all but one of them can be found on at least one tally in America this time around. Something interesting is happening with each of Madonna’s hits this week: one returns, one debuts and another climbs to an all-time high shortly after launching, as the Queen of Pop uses her promotional might to push multiple singles simultaneously.
Madonna and Kylie Minogue Debut Together
“Love Sensation,” now a collaboration between Madonna and Kylie Minogue, debuts at No. 9 on this week’s Hot Dance/Pop Songs chart. The single earns Minogue her first appearance on the relatively new Billboard roster, and she immediately scores a top 10 on her inaugural visit.
Madonna, meanwhile, collects her fourth career placement. All four of her hits on the Hot Dance/Pop Songs ranking come from Confessions II. “Love Sensation” is now her third top 10 and her second-highest-charting win. Only “Bring Your Love” with Sabrina Carpenter has climbed to a higher position, as that collaboration debuted and peaked at No. 7 back in May.
“Danceteria” opened at No. 10 and stalled there – at least so far – while “I Feel So Free” missed the top 10 by two spaces.
Madonna and Kylie Minogue Almost Reach No. 1
“Love Sensation” also rises to a new high on the Digital Song Sales chart. The tune originally reached the roster as a solo Madonna cut before returning last week as a collaboration with Minogue, when it placed at No. 5. This frame, the duet surges to No. 2 and misses out on ruling by only one rung.
Madonna has conquered the Digital Song Sales ranking before, while Minogue comes closer than ever to scoring her first leader and hits a career high point in the process.
Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” blocks the two women from the summit. The historic country smash holds at No. 1 for a milestone fifteenth frame, and it is one of the longest-running champions in the history of the tally.
“Love Sensation” Remains a Top 10 Hit Everywhere
“Love Sensation” can be found on three Billboard charts this week, and it lives inside the top 10 on all of them. In addition to reaching Nos. 2 and 9 on the Digital Song Sales and Hot Dance/Pop Songs charts, respectively, the collaboration falls to No. 10 on the Dance Airplay tally.
“Love Sensation” previously climbed all the way to No. 1 on the radio roster. It then dipped to No. 3 before falling more dramatically this frame.
Madonna’s “Danceteria” Surges to a New Chart Peak
The Dance Airplay chart is the only ranking where Madonna fills multiple spaces this week. “Danceteria,” the latest single from Confessions II, opened at No. 30 last frame. In only its second frame, the track vaults 12 spaces to a new high of No. 18.
As it ascends and after a very short time on the list, “Danceteria” has already climbed higher than several older Madonna hits on the roster. “Love Profusion” peaked at No. 20, while “Living for Love” topped out at No. 25, and this frame, the superstar’s latest focus outpaces both of those singles.
Madonna’s “Bring Your Love” Returns as a Radio Smash
“Bring Your Love,” Madonna’s collaboration with Carpenter, returns to the Adult Pop Airplay chart this week. The single reenters in last place at No. 40 after previously climbing as high as No. 20. “Bring Your Love” served as the major pop hit from Confessions II and has already enjoyed a healthy run on a number of Billboard rankings, including the pop radio tallies where it performed especially well.
Madonna Charts Two Albums in America
Madonna also places two albums on the Billboard charts this week. Confessions II appears on the Top Dance Albums and Top Album Sales charts at Nos. 7 and 23, respectively. The project drops on both rosters, though when it was new, the collection reached No. 1 on both lists. Madonna doubles up only on the Top Dance Albums ranking, where The Immaculate Collection holds steady at a lucky No. 13.
