The latest rankings for New York City’s top restaurants are in.

On Tuesday, November 18, The Michelin Guide held its annual award ceremony, announcing which New York restaurants would earn the coveted Michelin stars. This year, Michelin moved the event from New York City to Philadelphia, announcing stars for Boston and Philadelphia restaurants, along with Chicago, New York and Washington D.C. awards.

“This year marks a momentous occasion for the Northeast Cities to come together and celebrate the exceptional talent across the restaurant communities in these five cities,” said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the Michelin Guide. “We are thrilled to celebrate the first-ever selections in both Boston and Philadelphia and welcome several new restaurants into the Michelin Star family. Our anonymous Inspectors were able to witness and taste the passion these industry professionals brought to the table. Congratulations to all the chefs and restaurant teams honored tonight.”

Only one restaurant was newly awarded the highest accolade of three stars, Japanese restaurant Sushi Sho in Midtown Manhattan. This comes alongside the news that longtime three star omakase spot Masa was demoted down to two stars.

New York City had one restaurant elevated from one star to two stars, Joo Ok in Koreatown. Four new openings also made the starred list including Huso, Yamada, Bridges, and Muku.
