Team USA closed the 2026 Pan American Gymnastics Championships on a golden note, securing six medals in the final day of senior elite competition in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The results brought the delegation’s total to 28 medals across the junior, senior, and men’s and women’s artistic disciplines – the most of any nation.

The U.S. women won four medals in Sunday’s individual event finals.

Newly crowned Pan American all-around champion Claire Pease started her day with bronze on the vault and concluded her competition with a gold medal-winning performance on floor exercise. Pease closed the week with four medals, three gold.

Pease showed improved power and execution on floor, nailing her highly difficult first tumbling pass and minimizing landing deductions for a massive score (13.833). The score marked a sizable 0.433 improvement over her qualifying score.

After Pease’s four-medal haul this week in Rio de Janeiro, the 2025 U.S. Classic Champion and former junior national champion emerges as a top contender for the 2026 U.S. national title.

Often considered a dark horse on the Team USA squad, 17-year-old Simone Rose rose to the occasion on Sunday, winning a pair of silver medals on the uneven bars and on balance beam. While she tied for first place on beam, she lost the gold medal to Isabella Ajalla (Argentina) due to a tie-breaking procedure.

Rose’s beam routine included an impressive series of acrobatic elements, demonstrating greater difficulty than in her previous routines.

All-around silver medalist Charleigh Bullock also performed in the beam and floor finals, finishing in sixth on both events. With Pease and Rose’s strong results, the U.S. women concluded their Pan American Championships with seven medals, three gold.

The American men also found success in Sunday’s event finals. Patrick Hoopes, the 2025 World bronze medalist on pommel horse, added to his medal tally, winning gold over Canadian and Colombian challengers. Hoopes’ gold medal-winning routine marked his first continental title since ascending to the senior ranks.

Later that day, Pan American all-around bronze medalist Yul Moldauer secured his third medal of the week, winning gold on the parallel bars. The Olympian also tied for third place on the still rings, but – like Claire Pease – missed out on the medal due to a tiebreaker.

Moldauer’s gold medal brought Team USA’s final total to four medals in the senior men’s competition: two gold and two bronze.
