Olivia Rodrigo’s third album You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love is only a month old, and it has already produced three singles. The superstar shared both “Drop Dead” and “The Cure” before the full-length became available, while “Stupid Song” was selected as the third official promotional cut once the project hit streaming services and iTunes.
All three smashes – as well as every other track featured on the highly-anticipated set – remain big wins across Billboard‘s charts. As “The Cure” holds steady on one of the seven rankings on which it appears, it breaks a tie within Rodrigo’s discography and becomes her sturdiest leader yet.
Olivia Rodrigo Rules Again With “The Cure”
“The Cure” once again rules the Alternative Streaming Songs chart, Billboard‘s detailed look at the most-played alternative cuts on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal and others throughout the United States. “The Cure” has spent six weeks on the rundown and has never left the highest rung, where it debuted in early June.
“The Cure” Passes “Bad Idea Right?”
Only a few days ago, “The Cure” was tied with “Bad Idea Right?” as Rodrigo’s longest-running champion. “Bad Idea Right?” also opened at No. 1 in August 2023 and spent a month ruling the list. Now, “The Cure” has pulled ahead, and it may continue to lead the charge for several more periods, as Rodrigo’s album is still pulling in huge streaming sums each week.
Olivia Rodrigo Has Charted Three Alternative Streaming No. 1s
Throughout her career, Rodrigo has sent 20 tunes to the Alternative Streaming Songs chart. All but two – “Scared of My Guitar” and “Girl I’ve Always Been” – broke into the top 10. That roundup includes three No. 1s. “Brutal” is the shortest-running of the bunch. It opened at the summit in June 2021 and spent two weeks ahead of every other track.
A pair of hits by Rodrigo, “Get Him Back!” and “Maggots for Brains,” missed out on ruling by just one space. “Maggots for Brains” was blocked from the throne by “The Cure” as it debuted at No. 2 in late June.
“The Cure” Falls Everywhere Else
Notably, “The Cure” falls on every other Billboard chart on which it appears, only managing to hold steady atop the Alternative Streaming Songs roster. While it declines, “The Cure” remains a top 10 success on all but the Billboard Hot 100, where it dips from No. 13 to No. 18 after previously climbing as high as No. 5.
Here is a look at where “The Cure” ranks on all seven Billboard charts on which it appears.
- Alternative Streaming Songs – No. 1
- Hot Rock & Alternative Songs – No. 3
- Hot Alternative Songs – No. 3
- Billboard Global 200 – No. 8
- Streaming Songs – No. 9
- Billboard Global Excl. U.S. – No. 9
- Billboard Hot 100 – No. 18

The Alternative Streaming Songs chart includes 25 rungs, and Rodrigo claims nearly one-third of all available slots this time around. Eight tunes – all featured on You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love – take up space on the tally, and except for “The Cure,” they uniformly fall from where they sat only days ago. Nearly a month after You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love arrived, Rodrigo dominates the top 10, occupying half of the spaces.
Here is where all of Olivia Rodrigo’s tunes appear on this week’s Alternative Streaming Songs chart.
- No. 1 – “The Cure”
- No. 5 – “Maggots for Brains”
- No. 6 – “Expectations”
- No. 8 – “What’s Wrong with Me” with Robert Smith
- No. 9 – “My Way”
- No. 11 – “U + Me = <3”
- No. 22 – “Cigarette Smoke”
- No. 25 – “Purple”
“Drop Dead” Is Olivia Rodrigo’s Only Single to Climb This Week
13 tracks by Rodrigo appear on the Billboard charts this week, and almost all of them decline from where they appeared only last period. “The Cure” is steady at No. 1 on the Alternative Streaming Songs list, while “Stupid Song” is comfortable once again in second place on the non-genre-specific Streaming Songs tally. “Drop Dead,” meanwhile, holds at No. 10 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., one of two worldwide lists published by the company.
“Drop Dead” is the only smash by Rodrigo that climbs on any roster, and the song establishes new high points on three rundowns simultaneously. “Drop Dead” pushes from No. 10 to No. 8 on the Adult Pop Airplay chart, and almost breaks into the highest tier on the Radio Songs tally, inching from No. 12 to No. 11 – coincidentally in its eleventh frame on the roster.
Olivia Rodrigo Charts Her Three Albums in America
Rodrigo’s earliest two albums, Sour and Guts, live on the Billboard 200, Top Album Sales and Top Streaming Albums charts, but both lose ground everywhere. You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love steps back from the summit on the Billboard 200, Top Album Sales and Vinyl Albums rankings, making way for K-pop boy band Ateez to earn another leader – though the set does hold at the summit on the Top Streaming Albums, Top Rock & Alternative Albums and Top Alternative Albums tallies.
