Two Of Rihanna’s Biggest Hits Climb To Never-Before-Seen Chart Peaks

It’s not every week that Rihanna charts a hit song in America, but the superstar does appear on Billboard‘s global rankings without fail. Typically, the Grammy winner and Oscar-nominated talent scores multiple worldwide wins, with a handful of her most popular cuts landing on the Billboard Global 200 – the ranking of the most-consumed tracks around the planet – and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. – a similarly composed chart, though sales and streams originating from American consumers are purposely left out of its methodology.

This week, a trio of tunes live on both rundowns, and two of them rise to never-before-seen peaks.

Rihanna’s “Don’t Stop the Music” Hits New Chart Peaks

Rihanna’s “Don’t Stop the Music,” one of her early-career dance-floor favorites, surges to new heights on the two worldwide rankings. “Don’t Stop the Music” cracks the top half of the Billboard Global 200, pushing from No. 106 to No. 96. On the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., its ascent is less dramatic, as it surges from No. 120 to No. 111.

“Don’t Stop the Music” Passes Two of Rihanna’s Biggest Hits

As “Don’t Stop the Music” hits a new high, it leaps over two previous charters by Rihanna on the Billboard Global 200. “Where Have You Been” topped out at No. 97, while “Work,” one of multiple collaborations with Drake, stalled at No. 100.

“S&M” Returns and Rises Higher Than Ever

“S&M,” another electronic dance banger by Rihanna, is enjoying a huge week on the two charts as well. It returns to the Billboard Global 200 at No. 184, 50 spaces beneath its all-time peak. “S&M” does climb to a never-before-reached spot on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. This frame – its eighth on the tally – the saucy smash leaps from No. 178 to No. 161.

“S&M” Is No Longer Rihanna’s Lowest-Peaking Song

Just a few days ago, “S&M” ranked as Rihanna’s lowest-peaking song on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. That is no longer the case, and as it lifts, the banger pushes past “Born Again,” which spent one frame at No. 171, debuting in that spot in November 2022. That cut now stands as the superstar’s worst performer.

Rihanna Charts Four Tunes on the Global Rankings

One other blockbuster by Rihanna appears on both planet-spanning charts. “We Found Love,” her collaboration with Calvin Harris, climbs to No. 144 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. and improves two spaces to No. 163 on the Billboard Global 200. “Only Girl (In the World),” yet another electronic dance favorite, appears only on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., returning to the tally in last place, at No. 200.

“Don’t Stop the Music” Keeps Climbing

Of the four Rihanna songs that appear on Billboard global charts this time around, only one also makes space on an American ranking. “Don’t Stop the Music” boogies its way from No. 7 to No. 6 on the Dance Streaming Songs list. That roster looks only at the most-played dance cuts in the U.S. on platforms like Apple Music, Spotify and others.

That spot marks a new high point for the cut, and it’s important to note that nearly two decades after its release, “Don’t Stop the Music” reaches an exciting new peak on every Billboard chart on which it appears. “Don’t Stop the Music” is now tied with “Where Have You Been” and “Friend of Mine” within the singer’s catalog on the dance list.

Rihanna Charts a Pair of Albums in America

Two albums by Rihanna chart in America. Anti, her most recent set – and typically her top performer – drops on both the Billboard 200 and the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart while holding steady just beneath the top 10 on the Top R&B Albums list. Good Girl Gone Bad, which features “Don’t Stop the Music,” improves on both the Billboard 200 (No. 65) and the Top R&B Albums chart (No. 9), while dipping a single rung to No. 20 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums rundown.
