Cosplayers At SDCC 2026 (And Johnny Depp As Ebenezer Scrooge)

Johnny Depp appeared as his upcoming title character in Ebenezer while others went all out with their cosplay outfits at the 2026 San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday.

The annual pop culture convention for all things movies, television, video games, animation, comic books, collectibles and toys got underway on Thursday at the San Diego Convention Center. The event runs through Sunday.

Depp stars as Ebenezer Scrooge in the upcoming Paramount Pictures holiday film, which is director Ti West’s (the X trilogy) take on the Charles Dickens classic novel A Christmas Carol.

Paramount also released the film’s first poster and trailer on Thursday for Ebenezer, which is set for a Nov. 13 release. The film also stars Rupert Grint, Daisy Ridley, Andrea Riseborough, Sam Claflin, Tramell Tillman and Ian McKellen.

Apart from appearing during a panel Directors on Directors at SDCC’s famed Hall H, Depp turned up on the streets of San Diego as Ebenezer, encountering cosplayers dressed up as his iconic characters during Paramount’s “Ebenezer Office Activation” event.

The sights at SDCC, however, weren’t limited to the panels at Hall H. Here’s a look at some of the fans who brought their favorite characters to life through cosplay.

Cosplayers At SDCC 2026

This cosplayer dressed up as DC Comics’ Lobo, a character also played by Jason Momoa in Supergirl.

Cosplayers at Paramount Pictures’ Ebenezer Office Activation event brought Johnny Depp’s characters The Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland, Edward Scissorhands, Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Caribbean movie series and Willy Wonka from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to life.

This cosplayer dressed as Julie Andrews’ classic character Mary Poppins.

Another cosplayer dressed up as Lon Chaney’s Masque of the Red Death version of the Phantom from the silent movie classic The Phantom of the Opera.

This cosplayer combined Marvel’s X-Men comic book characters Rogue and Mystique.

A cosplayer dresses as Lucifer Morningstar from the series Hazbin Hotel.

This cosplayer dressed as Pomni from The Amazing Digital Circus.

Accompanied by a Grogu doll, this cosplayer dressed as Pennywise the Dancing Clown, who, of course, appears in the IT movies and IT: Welcome to Derry series.

These cosplayers dressed up as the title characters in Where’s Waldo? and Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?

A cosplayer dresses as the Faun from Guillermo del Toro’s classic dark fantasy Pan’s Labyrinth.

A cosplayer went the Marvel Comics villain route by dressing as Doc Ock from the Spider-Man comics.

A group of cosplayers came dressed as The Lord of the Rings villains the Nazgûl at SDCC.

This cosplayer dressed up as Caine from The Amazing Digital Circus.

SDCC 2026 runs through Sunday.
