Free Speech Summit Triumphs Despite Censorship Attempts: Independent Media Awards Debut on the Gold Coast

Gold Coast, Australia – July 20, 2025 — Despite intense efforts to derail it, the http://FreeSpeechSummit.com.au, hosted by Australian National Review (http://ANR.News), successfully went ahead this weekend on the Gold Coast, with a resounding message: free speech cannot be silenced.

The summit, backed by independent media advocates and supported by thousands of Australians both in person and online, was nearly stopped in its tracks by foreign interference — notably from Israeli lobbyists and activists, who allegedly pressured the Australian government to revoke the visas of multiple international speakers. This sparked serious questions: Why is a foreign government able to influence Australia’s immigration policies to silence dissenting voices? And why was Israel, out of all nations, so threatened by an event promoting open dialogue and freedom of speech in a sovereign democracy like Australia?

Despite the political maneuvering and venue cancellations, the summit continued, relocating at the last minute to a secure, undisclosed venue with the support of local authorities. The highlight of the weekend was the first-ever Independent Media Awards Gala, a landmark celebration recognizing the explosive growth and influence of independent media across the globe.

The awards night saw a host of influential names honored:
• Joe Rogan took home the award for Best Podcast, acknowledging his role in breaking mainstream narratives and bringing unfiltered conversations to millions.
• Novak Djokovic won Most Outspoken Athlete, applauded for his courage to speak against COVID vaccine mandates and media censorship, even at great personal and professional cost.
• Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens were honored for their powerful contributions to conservative independent journalism.
• Dan Bilzerian won for Most Disruptive Influencer, symbolizing a new wave of controversial yet unfiltered digital voices.
• Steve Kirsch, a former tech entrepreneur turned whistleblower, was awarded for his outspoken campaign highlighting the alarming rise in post-vaccine injury and death rates, a topic that mainstream outlets continue to ignore.

The awards reflect a broader shift — as mainstream media loses trust, millions are turning to independent voices for truth, transparency, and critical thinking.

Event organizer and ANR founder Jamie McIntyre stated, “This weekend was a victory for every journalist, influencer, and citizen who refuses to be silenced. When powerful forces try to shut us down, we only get louder. That’s the essence of free speech.”

As global censorship escalates, and government-media collusion becomes harder to ignore, the Free Speech Summit marks a pivotal moment in the fight for open discourse. And with the roaring success of the inaugural Independent Media Awards, it’s clear that this movement is only just getting started.
